Academic Unit Presenting the ProgramIndustrial Engineering
Program DirectorProf. Dr. Aysun SAĞBAŞ
Program TypeBachelor's Degree Program
Level of Degree EarnedUndergraduate (Bachelor’s degree)
Degree EarnedThis department is subject to the 240 ECTS credits first stage degree system in the field of Industrial Engineering in higher education. When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are provided, a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering is obtained.
Education TypeTam zamanlı
Registration Acceptance ConditionsTo be a graduate of Physical Sciences area in secondary education.
Recognition of Prior LearningThe process of recognition of former education in Turkish Higher Education Institutions is still at the start-up phase. Therefore, the recognition of former education has not been started completely in all departments of Namik Kemal University. Yet, a proficiency exam is held at the beginning of each academic year for the compulsary Foreign Language lesson which takes place in all departments’ curriculums. The students who have finished self-learning period or acquired necessary skills in these lessons have the chance to enter these exams. The students successful in these exams are considered privileged from the relevant lesson.
Degree Requirements and Rules The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of DD/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.
Program ProfileIn the program, it is aimed to produce projects and theses from studies focusing on the problems of industrial enterprises. It is aimed to train students with high technical problem solving skills, engineering intelligence and necessary knowledge, and at a level that will constitute a reference with the projects and thesis studies carried out with the faculty members of the department.
Occupational Profiles of GraduatesGraduates of the program successfully work in important private sector companies of our country in different sectors such as textile, automotive, electronics and chemistry. In addition, in areas such as finance, health, insurance in the service sector; They can find career opportunities in the public sector such as ministries, DPT and TAF, and in research institutions such as universities and TUBITAK. Main fields of work are production planning, quality control, production management, stock control, product development, process planning, maintenance planning, investment planning and feasibility studies, cost analysis, facility planning, workplace design, human resources management, information systems, business evaluation systems.
Access To Upper DegreeCandidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can study in graduate (master's and doctoral) programs, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and have sufficient English language knowledge.
Exams, Assessment and Grading

There is minimum one mid-term exam every semestr. In addition, there are also projects and homeworks assigned to students for decided submitting dates at the beginning of every semestr. The students have to enter the final exam at the end of every semestr. The criteria (mid-term exam, projects, homeworks and final exam) and the ratio of their effects on semestr end mark are clearly informed by course contents distributed at the beginning of the semestr and/or on web page. The final exams are held on dates, places and times decided and informed according to student regulations and academic calender of the university. The semestr end mark is graded by course responsible considering the mid-term exam, project, homeworks and final exam results.

The pass mark is 60 out of 100 in Namık Kemal University. But, the final exam grade or make-up exam grade have to be minimum 50. The exams are evaluated over 100 full mark. One lessons’s semestr/one year mark is the total of  %30 of arithmetic mean of mid-term or mid-terms and %70 of the final exam or make-up exam. Yet, one lesson’s semestr/end of year mark can also be calculated as the total of %30 to %50 of arithmetic mean of mid-term exam or mid-term exams and %50 to %70 of final exam or make-up exam to make total %100, upon condition of decisions taken by the board of faculty/vocational school and declared at the beginning of the semestr. As a result of the calculation, if the first number after decimal point is less than five, the previous whole number, if it is five or more than five, the next whole number is considered. Details can be found in the following web page. http://oidb.nku.edu.tr/yonetmelik/2011eos.pdf

The semestr end mark or make-up exam mark with evaluation criteria is handed in Office of Student Affairs by course responsible. Semestr end marks and make-up exam marks are announced on student information system.
